Relax: The Pavement Reunion Lesson

Last night I got to catch Pavement on their reunion tour. It was a pretty magical night. The weather was perfect, the company was good, and my seats were "upgraded" during the evening so my view was great.

What stood out for me the most was how relaxed everyone in the band seemed. They just seemed open, friendly, appreciative, and happy. Contrast that with some bands that spend a lot time posing and acting too-cool-for-school.

Not having had the opportunity to see Pavement in the past, I can't compare this show to previous tours. However, I did get the sense that since this was a reunion tour where they have nothing to prove, they chose to just relax, enjoy the experience, and play their music. This put the audience in a great place. It is truly a joy to see egoless confidence in action.

So, why am I telling you this?

It reminded my how valuable it is to be comfortable in your own skin at whatever stage you are in life. Not only is it better for you, but it also rubs off on the people around you.

Take a deep breathe. Relax. Appreciate where you are on your journey.
