YSRP Workshop

The process is the product.

It must be a Philadelphia thing to #trusttheprocess

We've spent years fine-tuning our process to navigate the complexities of design, infrastructure, and collaboration.

You can be sure that our approach will be customized to your project, but here’s a taste of what you can expect when working with us:

We start by listening.

We like hearing from a wide range of different perspectives.

One of your first steps will be to create a list of project stakeholders to speak with. We conduct 1-on-1 interviews with your stakeholders to candidly learn more about you and your goals. We use all of the information we gather to help guide your workshop and other upcoming discovery activities.

MissionStaff Workshop

It’s hard to make decisions. We can help.

Workshops are a time to hear from many voices and move towards a unified vision.

We welcome and encourage participation from all types of people with interest in the success of your project. Our workshops are designed to move towards consensus, so we specialize in making sure people are heard.

Strategizing with your goals in mind.

We use insights from our research to create strategies that support who you are and where you are going.

We’ll take everything we’ve learned and create a strategy that will serve as the basis for design and development. Then, we’ll present this to you and your team to ensure that we are moving in the right direction.

Making it visual.

We think of design as a path towards understanding. We create things that are authentic to you and your needs.

During this phase, one of our dedicated designers will be working with you closely to match your vision to your goals. We’ll schedule a meeting to present your designs to you and, with the necessary tweaks and adjustments, the momentum builds...

Meet your new website.

We believe in empowering you to make changes to your website without our help. But before we turn you loose, we want to train you on how to use your new tool.

We’ll get together for a few hours and show you how it works and answer any questions you might still have. Our clients have been known to take rigorous notes only to never use them—thanks to our expert developers and their ability to translate #technology to #human.

We start by understanding who you are and where you’re headed.

Brand goes beyond capturing who you are and what you do now: it’s about the impact you aspire for each day you get out of bed and as you look towards the future—the “why.”

It’s important for us to hear this from members of your team individually and collectively. We also like hearing from different perspectives and often request interviews with external stakeholders who have interacted with your brand.

NaturePHL Gut Check

We craft tailored experiences to get to the essence of your brand.

We use insights from our preliminary discovery to craft a tailored workshop to your project.

Exercises are designed to enhance our understanding of who you are and the impact you aspire to have, as well as to explore your visual preferences.

Brand is the promise of an experience.

We recognize our clients have different needs when it comes to expressing the unique experience they offer.

The outcome of our work should establish and/or reinforce your brand promise. We recognize that everyone is at a different stage in their process, and will work with your team in identifying the best approach, which may include:

  • Creating specific elements of your visual identity
  • Developing a brand strategy (i.e. mission statement, credo, tagline, guiding principles)
  • A full, in-depth brand and visual identity exploration

Each of these approaches culminates into a guide for expressing your brand and/or visual identity.

Bringing your project to life.

This work becomes the foundation for many brand gesture opportunities, and we often extend the brand even further through:

  • Brand collateral. Business cards, letterhead, slide deck templates, notebooks, brochures, guidelines, and more.

  • Living your brand. Company culture and operations, physical office space, communication and relationship-building with stakeholders.

  • Digital presence. Website, social media, software, and apps.

Workshops & Retreats

Kicking the project off.

Each organization is unique, therefore each workshop or retreat ought to be, as well.

Our team that will help design and facilitate your workshop or retreat experience will reach out to schedule an in-person meeting, ideally in your space. This is an opportunity to get to know each other and talk through your goals for this event, whether it's to develop specific, tangible outcomes or identify opportunities for your team to connect.

We start by listening.

With thoughtful research, we decide the best way to structure your workshop or retreat.

Every situation requires unique research, but our methods include:

  • Interviews.
We conduct phone interviews with members of your team and organization to candidly learn more about the goals of the workshop or retreat and to uncover new information.
  • Site Visits.
Observing your team at work helps us to discover new needs and pinpoint solutions.

We welcome and encourage participation from everyone invested in the vision and goals of your project. Our workshops and retreats are designed to move towards consensus, so we specialize in making sure people are heard.

Makerspace Next Steps

Your workshop or retreat will result in actionable next steps.

When paired together, your team’s knowledge and insights and our research process will bring clarity and alignment for your next steps.

With a recap of our findings and recommendations, we'll provide custom advice for ways in which your team can achieve in the future.

Finding the best approach.

Once we have a sense of how we can help, we will identify specific goals and desired outcomes of our work together.

This will enable our team to draft a project proposal and outline a tailored process specific to your needs.

It all begins with research and exploration.

Our team will kick off the project by listening, engaging stakeholders, and identifying key challenges.

This initial discovery phase could include:

  • Interviewing and surveying project stakeholders
  • Workshops or collaborative work sessions
  • User testing and/or observations
  • Audit of current assets, process, tools, strategic goals—anything relevant to the task at hand!

This team may vary depending on your particular project and could include a cross-discplinary team of researchers, strategists, designers and/or technologists.

Looking for opportunities.

Insights from this initial research and discovery phase will be documented and synthesized by our team.

We work to identify the best next steps or a set of recommendations for solving your team's challenges. These opportunities may be delivered in the form of:

  • An informal or formal review of best practices and expertise around the subject matter.
  • A recommendations guide in the form of documents, Keynote presentations, visual designs, or code—whatever best sets you up for success.
  • Mentorship or coaching.
