We've had a busy summer, expanding our ranks by three, bringing our roster up to twelve teammates. The new additions include Stuart Romanek, Matt McManus, and Sloan Miller.
Stuart began his career on the Internet by peeking under skirt of Angelfire's first WYSISYG editor and generating way more flaming, rotating GIFs than humanly necessary. After a few dozen warez/babe/EN sites he went on to study at La Salle University where he graduated in 2003 with honors from the Multimedia Design program.
Most recently he's worked for GHI Design with a focus on design and front-end development for local small businesses, universities, and non-profits. Some of his favorite projects have been working with the University of Pennsylvania , The Philadelphia Wooden Boat Factory, and CDA-I Architecture.
Stuart's off-hours are spent exploring pockets of Philadelphia, doing free artwork for his friends bands, and, when he really has a solid day off, brewing a batch of beer.
Matt is a full stack web developer with over 10 years of experience making websites for academic institutions and non-profits. He's worked as a freelancer and as a full time developer deep in the bowels of higher ed at Drexel and Arcadia Universities.
Matt's love for the internet is fueled by its potential to improve people's lives. In the past he has built tools for global non-profits in order to help them communicate and share information more efficiently. He has also created tools that help people be intentional about their relationships and time (two things the internet does not always encourage).
Equal to his love for computers and the internet is Matt's love for food and drink. He brews his own beer, makes his own hot sauce and loves spending 10 hours in front of the smoker working on a chicken or pork shoulder.
Sloan is a marketing and agency veteran with strong relationship and project management skills and extensive experience in project planning, coordination and facilitation, technical requirements documentation and quality assurance.
He has engineered and guided complex eCommerce, mobile application, and CMS solutions for a range of large and small international, regional, and local clients including Wawa, JP Morgan Chase, WL Gore, American Water, Barclaycard, Comcast, Appleton Estates, Herr’s, Johnson & Johnson, Amgen, BIO, FoxSports, NHL, and more.
Over the the last four years Sloan founded and led the project management department for Wilmington Delaware's The Archer Group. While there, he was responsible for managing the agency's project portfolio, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets, and overseeing the prioritization of activities and tasks of the design and development teams.
A six-year resident of South Philadelphia's Passyunk Avenue area with his wife, outside of work Sloan is all about books and blogs that improve his craft; participating in or viewing sporting events specifically baseball, football or soccer; continuing to develop his skills as an amateur chef and purveyor of good food and drink; and enjoying all forms of entertainment from movies and television to music.
